Internship Program Overview

Our internship program offers students the unique opportunity to gain both clinical and administrative experience. Interns maintain a small caseload, providing therapy under the guidance of experienced supervisors, ensuring personalized learning and hands-on experience. Additionally, interns engage in community education, delivering workshops and presentations on mental health topics to help spread awareness and foster community well-being. Students participate in individual and group supervision, and receive professional development training to equip them with the skills and knowledge to grow as clinicians and mental health advocates.

Clinical Supervision

Students receive clinical supervision from Charla Yearwood, LCSW, an experienced therapist and educator. Students attend weekly group supervision sessions, offering them the chance to collaborate with their peers, learn from diverse perspectives, and discuss clinical challenges. Additionally, interns participate in biweekly individual supervision, where they receive tailored feedback to further develop their clinical skills. This comprehensive supervision model ensures that students build both confidence and competence as emerging therapists.

Anti-Oppressive Practice

Our program is deeply rooted in anti-oppressive practice. Students receive training to provide therapy that is inclusive and mindful of clients' race, culture, gender, and sexuality. By integrating these values into their clinical work, interns learn to offer culturally competent care that honors the diverse identities and lived experiences of their clients. This training ensures that future clinicians are equipped to create safe and affirming spaces for all.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for our internship program, students must be enrolled in an accredited graduate-level program in social work, counseling, or marriage and family therapy. The internship requires a commitment of 20 hours per week over the course of two semesters or six months. If you are passionate about gaining hands-on experience in a supportive, anti-oppressive environment, we encourage you to apply!
